We weren't aware that we would need a special hitch (very long) for this item. We tow a travel trailer so, using an very long hitch is not a viable option.

- Works well
Somehow we had the impression that this would slide over an existing hitch. It doesn't. It replaces the hitch with its own insert. This decreased its value to us but it does work well as a bike carrier in that mode.
