The Weapon

Revelation: 86

Where Fear And Weapons Meet released their debut 7" on Revelation Records last October and have become one of the most talked about new hardcore bands. Less than a year later they've finished recording The Weapon which is an incredible step for the band. The Weapon has progressed in songwriting and power without changing their style. They play incredible fast hardcore and put something new into it that's really hard to describe. When you listen to them it sounds like your favorite record but you haven't heard it before. Their sound could be called the definition of hardcore without falling into any cagetory or rehashing anything from the past.

Just after Where Fear And Weapons Meet had recorded and released their self-titled 7" on Rev they were asked to do an East Coast tour with Vision. As news was quickly spreading about their 7", word was also getting out about the band's live show. Invitations were quickly extended to record for numerous comps and to play on various tours and shows. WFAWM then entered the studio and recorded tracks for several different projects, among them an SSD tribute album, Ray Cappo's "The Rebirth of Hardcore 99" comp, and the "Only The Strong" comp. More people got to witness the band live as they shared the stage with Guttermouth, Against All Authority, and AFI, and played the Syracuse Music Festival, the Virginia Hardcore Fest, and the Youth Of Today reunion.

At home in Florida with Jeremy Staska (Morning Again, Shai Hulud, etc) manning the controls, The Weapon was recorded fast and raw, true to the nature of the band. And the fifteen tracks on the album showcase exactly what has made this four-piece so popular: high energy and great songs that are hardcore without severing its roots in punk rock. It's impossible to categorize Where Fear And Weapons Meet. They're not a "metal hardcore" band, a "youth crew" hardcore band, or a "pop-punk" hardcore band. They do what they do and they do it better than most. With this band, what you see is what you get. And what you'll see is simple... hardcore that is positive, but can rip your face off. If you think that sounds funny, give The Weapon a spin and you'll see what we're talking about.  more
