PROS: Price. Quiet despite what another reviewer said about it being a bit loud . Loud ? Really ?
CONS: In all fairness, I have not really set up the hard drive yet for how I will use it . But I have used it enough to say the out-of-box documentation really is dumb and is horribly incomplete. It consists of one sheet with no text. Only visual cues.

PROS: Don't know. I gave the 3 rating because it IS preformated to FAT32. This would make it immediately recognizable on your game console that only recognizes FAT32. (i.e. PS3)

PROS: Capacious storage. Speedy. Low power consumption. Quiet. Easy to replace internal hard drives. Capacity indicator.
CONS: A little pricey on a dollar-per-GB basis. Install disc contains crapware. Capacity indicator requires software installation. Backup is data oriented, not disaster-recovery oriented. eSATA cable not included.

PROS: It is a given that once a hardrive is formatted it never has same space left to write on. One should always look at X-Gigs less formatting cluster size. (500 Gig minus Format writing) Although I agree it shouldn't take 40 gigs away from hardrive size
CONS: Didn't care for the WD External Hardrive Crash after I backed up my computers internal hardrive to it after powering it down and it couldn't be read afterwords by my computer as it said it was all corrupted files.

PROS: Good backup storage good price.
CONS: To try to restore we opened up and pulled disk out. Disk was HOT for > 1 hour (poor ventilation). Disk inside had sticker stating recertified. If the core of the product is recertified they should market as such (not hide it inside an enclosure)
