"Does more than I expected"

I thought I had bought a "dumb drive" on which I could dump all my information. The backup software is really great. I found out that for my money, I had bought a veritable backup machine for several PCs. The software is relatively intuitive, but it

"Needs instructions"

I bought this item to back up my laptop and thought I could use it for multiple PC's as it is 320gigs and I don't have that much stuff to back up. It came with no instructions and the software is not user friendly. Everytime I try to disconnect it

Western Digital's My Passport Elite is a 500GB external hard drive that's faster and cheaper than the 500GB Seagate FreeAgent Go, but it doesn't look as stylish. With a formatted capacity of 465GB and a cost per gigabyte of 68.6 cents, this latest ed

Good drive with average software.

This is a very good drive with excellent capacity, however the bundled software - i.e. WDSync is a little clunky. A bit slow with an awkward user interface. It would be nice if you could sync up data without having to encrypt it which: A) takes times to encrypt B) forces you to have to use...

If I go to the library I put it in the little pouch it came with, put that in my backpack, and take it...

Not worth the price premium over the lower cost model

They charge substantially more for this model than for the Western Digital WDME3200TN My Passport Essential 320GB USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive (Midnight Black). What do you get for the extra money? Nothing of significance or even substantive value. A somewhat burnished case finish which adds...

Very nice portable storage for the money!

This portable hard drive is great, its quiet, stays cool, runs completely off the UPS port on your computer for power, and is sleek and stylish looking. Its easily portable, can fit in your pocket and has plenty of space. Its not as fast as the larger 3.5 drives, but its plenty fast enough and...

EXCELLENT!!!!

Compact ... reasonably tough, fast access ... and easy to carry. I bought a CaseLogic case for it and the short cable ... though it came with a soft carry sack. I'd highly reccomend that investment.

Works great with Mac OSX Leopard

Works great with Mac Leopard. Just plug it in and follow the prompts - you will simply have to re-format the drive to be compatible with Time Machine, but that's easily done - OSX guides you through it all quite painlessly.Zero problems, quite durable (I travel a LOT and treat my gear "OK", but...
