PROS: The 500 GB capacity combined with the portability is exactly what I needed as a student working with video at home and school. The transfer rate is great compared to the other WD hard drive I have with Firewire 400.
CONS: So far I have had no issues that would cause me to complain about the Passport. I read a lot of negative reviews, but my experience with WD has never failed to please.

I formatted this HD right out of the box to get rid of the pre-installed sync/backup software. I prefer to figure my own way to backing up my data, and I gain more control over the device as proposed to an automatic backup, which may work for some.
