"You get what you pay for..."

I recently purchased this drive for use with my PowerMac G4 Quicksilver 2002. It worked right out of the box and after setting it up for RAID-1 I was able to transfer a few test files. However after copying 27GB of data to it, it stopped showing up

Expanded Back-up

With the ever increasing size of my digital photo library I needed to increase the size of my back-up drive. I use this unit with a Mac and set to a RAID 1 configuration for mirrored storage. RAID 1 knocks down the usable area to 931 MB. It seems to work with Apple's Time Machine back-up program...

Why does it unmount itself?

Would be great, if the silly thing didn't unmount itself for no reason. Usually when there's no activity, although I dread the day is happens in the middle of a video edit. (There are reports around that it does happen.) For some reason, it just unmounts itself. Disappears off the desktop. No...

Raid 1 Doesn't Work

Like another reviewer, I tried using the WD tool to change the drive to Raid 1 and it would never finish. I even left it running overnight. I ended up returning it and keeping my Drobo. When I called tech support, they said it could take 6 hours.. well after 12 or more hours, I gave up.

Raid 1 Doesn't Configure and No Network Support

I was very excited to get this drive after the reviews I read here. This drive may be terrific if you are looking for a single, non-mirrored, external drive, but I need a Raid 1 mirrored configuration. My problems started with the WD Drive Manager installation. It would not install off of the...

Another hit by Western Digital

All I can say is they keep on hitting it out of the park. This unit was perfect to add to my addition. I installed it a Windows Vista and it was simple. I would not even know it was external because of how fast the seek time is. It is a definate purchase if you are in the market for 2GB of...

Western Digital External Hard drive.

I bought this for an added hard drive for my Apple Time Capsule. Why WD? I have owned several external HD's and Western Digital drives have given great service with little or no problems. This one has been in service for about a month and a half and to date there have been no problems. Delivery...

Great Drive

After almost two months now, this drive has performed without problem. I have an iMac G5 w/ a 250gb HD. I've also backed up an external Western Digital 500MB My Book, and a large number of video files. This did take time (I still have 1.3TBs left!), but after the initial backup it does a good...
