Magellan RoadMate 2000
At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.
This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

Can't get better for the money
Pros: Low Cost, window mount, light weight Cons: Non-updateable Maps, older maps, unable to choose male voice Other than the fact that my home built in 2004 and the surrounding streets are not listed on this model, I love it. It is small and easy

"This GPS unit is a piece of garbage!"
After owning two hand held Garmin GPS units that I was very happy with, I decided to buy a GPS unit for my car. And, like an idiot, I bought the Magellan Road Mate 2000 because it was on sale. Big mistake. This piece of trash has been nothing but
PROS: I have nothing good to say about this hunk of junk!
CONS: Junk! Reboots frequently. Easily confused. Slow .

"The technical support for this companty is terrible"
The tech support is terrible. Long waits (up to two hours) and then you cannot understand the technician. All you get is call back in one week for status. My unit was sent in for repair Oct 23rd and it is now Dec 10 and I am still getting "call back
PROS: unit is ok-when working-but hope against all odds that you do not have to send it in for repair
CONS: I have waited 2 hrs on phone for tech support

"Good unit, sometimes frustrating."
Overall, the performance is good at long distances. Sometimes very hard to hear. Went to Charleston, SC and was repeatedly directed in a circle of about six blocks in area. Finally ended up looking at a field and the ocean wondering how I was expecte
PROS: Easy to use, compact
CONS: Routes could be better.
