Magellan Maestro 3100
At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.
This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

"Good deal plus Region Update"
There's a region update (2.18) available that adds maps for Hawaii and Puerto Rico and increases POIs to 1.3 million! I'm not sure when this was released, but you can download this update from the Magellan website after you create a profile for yours
PROS: Good price, easy to use
CONS: Doesn't charge through USB and doesn't come with wall AC adapter

nice unit - has some nice features in the software that are better than the Garmin that i also use. Could have a larger POI database, however. Seems small at less than 2 million POI's compared to Garmin's 5 million

First Time Owning a GPS, Problems Kept Popping Up
At first, it worked well enough. I liked how it narrows down cities, streets as you input the name. Did a fine job on a mostly-Interstate trip I took immed. after receiving it. But problems began to pop up. The unit would never go to sleep mode

Magellan GPS 3100
Best GPS I could find for the money. It hasn't missed finding the destination yet. Has great features and options that are useful on a trip in new territory.

Significant lack of POIs (Points of Interest)
If you are a woman, who is shopping for a GPS, I would say that you want to find a model that provides WAY more POIs than what this one does. This was very disappointing and I nearly sent it back. My personal experience was that it could not locate

Simple and reliable
I purchased this GPS unit after all the Christmas hype had passed. I got a great deal from Crutchfield. I really like this unit due to the large display and loud enough speaker. I just works well. I went on a road trip to Disneyland and loaded the ho
