"A mish mash of"
Today my Illustrator wouldn't open a text file without turning it into a non formatable, graphic element. Later it discarded my important document sizes in a saved print document for some custom document sizes that were on the clipboard from a web do
PROS: Nice user interface if you liked CS2, because it doesn't leave you as stranded as previous versions because it has a lot of buttons on the screen that you can use to access toolbars from the windows menu, (toolbar windows), also you can calapse them.
CONS: Just has the same features as CS2, even CS4 is the same - only difference is Photoshop CS4 has a 3D feature for creating basic shapes that revolve in space, although that is not what it is meant for 'PHOTO - shop'.

Illustrator cs3 still has kinks
After using illustrator for a few weeks i finally started learning some really cool features with the pathfinder tool to make those perfect vector shapes. (I'm still learning) But now my software doesn't want to export eps files, or save ai files....

For professionals only
Lots of hobbyists use either Photoshop Elements or the full Photoshop application. Not all that difficult to learn. But Illustrator is another matter altogether. If you're a professional doing a lot of vector graphics, Illustrator is the only way...
