Neil Gaiman & Charles Vess' Stardust

For: $26.39

In the sleepy English countryside at the dawn of the Victorian Era, young Tristran Thorn has lost his heart to beautiful Victoria Forester. But Victoria is cold and distant -- as distant, in fact, as the star she and Tristran see fall from the sky on a crisp October evening. For the coveted prize of Victoria's hand, Tristran vows to retrieve the fallen star and deliver it to his beloved. It is an oath that sends the lovelorn swain into a world that is strange beyond imagining, a world populated by evil old witches, deadly clutching trees, and goblin press-gangs -- a world redeemed only by true love.

This oversized hardcover edition of STARDUST allows the breathtaking art of Charles Vess to be seen in its finest presentation, and ties in to the film version of STARDUST, coming in May 2007.

At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.

This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

From: Amazon Posted: Jan 09, 2008 Type: User Review Acceptable Fantasy

This is an attempt by Gaiman to write a sort of turn-of-the-century fantasy somewhat in the style of Lord Dunsany or Hope Mirlees. Gaiman has talent, and the attempt is not without some success. He does not rise to the level of those he seeks to...

Another great tale by Gaiman. Young Tristran in order to win the heart of his love must leave the safety of his village and find an impossible item - a fallen star. Read this book before you see the movie, as the book is as the adage goes,...
