The Age of the Unthinkable: Why the New World Disorder Constantly Surprises Us And What We Can Do About It

Today the very ideas that made America great imperil its future. Our plans go awry and policies fail. History's grandest war against terrorism creates more terrorists. Global capitalism, intended to improve lives, increases the gap between rich and poor. Decisions made to stem a financial crisis guarantee its worsening. Environmental strategies to protect species lead to their extinction.

The traditional physics of power has been replaced by something radically different. In The Age of the Unthinkable, Joshua Cooper Ramo puts forth a revelatory new model for understanding our dangerously unpredictable world. Drawing upon history, economics, complexity theory, psychology, immunology, and the science of networks, he describes a new landscape of inherent unpredictability--and remarkable, wonderful possibility.

Fantastic book

In the last two years I read a good amount of good books, such as well known 'Outliers', 'U theory' and the like. This one stood out , dealing with such a difficult subject to address as complexity. in a nutshell, the way either to fight...

An Unthinkable Lack of Morality

A grasping, stupid but obviously well connected author (to get such a moronic book published and then distributed), Joshua Cooper Ramo, wrote a book he called "The Age of the Unthinkable". He should have called it "Writing a Book...

Thought provoking

This book is about thinking out of the box. Ramo makes a persuasive argument about why our view of the world can blind us to what comes next, but he fails to show how we can get past our blinders.

An important book to read

This is one of the most important books I've read in recent memory. It speaks to the need for us all to view our lives, enviornments, relationships, etc. in a way that enables us to see them for what they are: systems. Per Bak's sand...
