Capitalism and Freedom: Fortieth Anniversary Edition

Selected by the Times Literary Supplement as one of the "hundred most influential books since the war"

How can we benefit from the promise of government while avoiding the threat it poses to individual freedom? In this classic book, Milton Friedman provides the definitive statement of his immensely influential economic philosophy?one in which competitive capitalism serves as both a device for achieving economic freedom and a necessary condition for political freedom. The result is an accessible text that has sold well over half a million copies in English, has been translated into eighteen languages, and shows every sign of becoming more and more influential as time goes on.

The economic freedom is the best guarantee of personal freedom

The link between economic and political freedoms has been supported for a long time, and Milton Friedman's "Capitalism and Freedom" is one of the more important texts in that intellectual tradition. The central thesis of this book is...

Borderline Useless Neoliberal Arguments

Let me start out by saying Milton Friedman is a compelling figure who truly wishes for freedom and equal opportunity. Also, I realize that 'Capitalism and Freedom' was not an academic work in economics but rather a political manifesto...

Required Reading for All Voters and Citizens

Whether you are a liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican, this is a fundamental popular "textbook" of required reading, if you care about your family and this (or any) country. It's timeless: the book sounds like it was written...

Unanimity Without Conformity

I received Capitalism and Freedom as a gift from an admissions officer at the University of Chicago. At the time, I was a 17 year-old kid in high school applying to U of C, which of course, is the University where Milton Friedman...

considering current events, he left something out!!!!

the title above says it all. something missing in his considerations. perhaps should include a chapter on human character and the greed that appears to run rampant in the higher levels of the economic ladder.
