The Fiery Cross (Outlander)
Crossing the boundaries of genre with its unrivalled storytelling, Diana Gabaldon?s new novel is a gift both to her millions of loyal fans and to the lucky readers who have yet to discover her.
In the ten years since her extraordinary debut novel, Outlander, was published, beloved author Diana Gabaldon has entertained scores of readers with her heart-stirring stories and remarkable characters. The four volumes of her bestselling saga, featuring eighteenth-century Scotsman James Fraser and his twentieth-century, time-travelling wife, Claire Randall, boasts nearly 5 million copies in the U.S.
The story of Outlander begins just after the Second World War, when a British field nurse named Claire Randall walks through a cleft stone in the Scottish highlands and is transported back some two hundred years to 1743.
Here, now, is The Fiery Cross, the eagerly awaited fifth volume in this remarkable, award-winning series of historical novels. The year is 1771, and war is approaching. Jamie Fraser?s wife has told him so. Little as he wishes to, he must believe it, for hers is a gift of dreadful prophecy?a time-traveller?s certain knowledge. To break his oath to the Crown will brand him a traitor; to keep it is certain doom. Jamie Fraser stands in the shadow of the fiery cross?a standard that leads nowhere but to the bloody brink of war. more

Very well developed characters and lots of detail.
I'm going to skip the synopsis for this book because I don't want to ruin the story for people that haven't got this far in the series. Suffice it to say that there isn't much about time travel in this one until the very end of the book, and then a little more information is divulged. This, the...

Another Gabaldon winner.
This author knows how to write a good story. She weaves everyday life, wonderfully rich characters and accurate historical background into some of the best fiction I've ever read. I am always sad when one of the books end--I have been living and breathing Jamie and Claire for approx 1000 pages...

The Fiery Cross
Unlike Diana's other books in the Outlander series, this one dragged a little until I realized how important all the little things are that happen in my life. It also made me realize how lucky I am to be living in this century and how I often take for granted all the little advantages I have....

Dreadful book quality
No issue with the story - but this particular edition is tiny - which makes it almost square. It's so thick that the paperback binding is bound to break before you're halfway through ... and the text is so small as to be almost unreadable. Don't waste your money - get a bigger / hardback version!

Great read
Diana is an incredible author and the Outlander series is the BEST SERIES EVER! Read it! I own the series and have gotten my mother and best friend to purchase it as well and we re-read them and discuss them constantly. Jamie and Claire are as well written as Rhett and Scarlett only happy and...

Very Satisfied
I was very satisfied with this purchase. This book was the only one I was missing in the Outlander series. It arrived earlier than the estimated delivery date and in very good condition. Now I have the entire series and I am very pleased. Thank you--Carolyn Wright

SOOOOOOOOO boring.
I've been trying so hard to finish this book. The other Outlander books have been fantastic. I couldn't get enough of them, and I hear that the next one is better, but this one makes me not want to make it to the next one. Its drawn out and boring.

The Fiery Cross
The fifth book in this series is wonderful. You have to read all five to follow the story, but it is romantic and adventurous and historical. I have read the whole series at least four times and never bore with it.

Not one of my favorites.
I was a bit disappointed in this book as I was in Voyager. Too much in to the political stuff. I actually started hating Roger in this book. In all the others I could never put them down, but in this one and Voyager, I found myself avoiding reading it. I have reread the series about 9 times...
