Enjoyable lite lit
I listened to the unabridged audio book and found this light-weight thriller quite enjoyable. It kept its European flavor and it was obvious that this was home territory for the author. Simon Vance did a great job bringing the characters to life and made dealing with the Swedish names and locales...

Brilliant Book
I loved this book. Once I got started on it, I found it irresistable. The characters are so easy to relate to because they all seem to have a slew of their own problems and mess, but at the same time are very endearing. It is all tied together by a brilliant intertwined plot. I enjoyed every...

Very highly overrated; would not buy it again
There are very few books that I throw away after reading them. When I do so it's because I do not want any responsibility for wasting another reader's time on bad books. The best review I can write is this: I can't remember much about the book at all. The parts I do remember are the open marriage...

Great read!
I liked this book - I liked the story lines and how they intertwined, and I really liked the characters. The one thing that was a true surprise was the ending. It's not your typical lovely ending. Pick it up - read it, and you will find you are right there on the pages with the characters.

Character building and suspense
I just finished reading this and I have to say it was a page turner!! I have not read a book as exciting as this in a long time. I love the way the author builds up the characters in the beginning and so you feel like you know them personnally. So when the books moves along you can't possibly put...

Give it a chance...
Author of Shoes are Better than SexThis will be one of the most suspenseful books you've read in a long time - if you give it a chance. Be sure to set aside a few hours at first and suddenly you'll find yourself unable to put the book down. By page 35 or so I was hooked. Don't be intimidated by...

A fun page turner
A fun read and an exciting page turner. Some of the resolutions to the plot were poorly handled and contrived, but Larsson is a very effective storyteller. As mentioned by other reviewers, the novel is a poor translation. The publisher should have paid a measly $100 to some 13 year old to proof...

Great
I am not much of a mystery reader but this book was great. The plot was definitely 5 stars, but it got off to a rocky start I thought and could have had less of the details and jumped right into the story line so overall I am giving it 4 stars. I am looking forward to the next book

Good thriller - with something lost in the translation
I agree with many of the other reviewers that the plot lines, characters and twists make this better than standard thriller fare. But, the translation of what was originally written in Swedish is very distracting and doesn't do the actual tale the justice it deserves.Words like "gaol" for jail,...
