another color purple bleck
what the difference btw this book and the color purple where the main character is nurtured by her husbands mistress? ANd would it be popular if Oprah did not put her stamp of approval? Its sad that any fiction author can't succeed unless oprah says its worthy.

Just didn't like it
I am trying to be as objective as possible because I know so many people liked the book, but I just didn't like it at all. Like many other have said, if you take out the graphic details of the incest and foul language, you don't have much substance. I think the story line could have been...

What an amazing piece of literature...
I saw the preview for the movie base on this book ("Precious") that will be released in Nov. 2009 and rushed out immediately to purchase this book. It is slightly difficult to read at the beginning, not only due to the fact that the writing itself is so raw but also because the content is vulgar...

WOW!!!
I just received my copy of the book today and started reading it while I was in the doctor's office. I must say this book is definitely an eye opener. Yes the book is graphic in detail and language, but it helps the reader see the illiteracy of this teen and horrible lives that some abused teens...

Heartwrenching, but leaves you rooting for Precious!
This was a great book. I bought it for my 13-year old daughter because I saw Mo'Nique on Oprah talking about the movie Precious, based on the book, that will be coming out in Fall 09. I'm so glad I read it before my daughter did. It is VERY graphic, but it isn't graphic just to be graphic. It...

Push
This was a great book. It was very inspiring how Precious handled all the cards that life had dealt her. She overcame some very devastating obstacles. I read this book in about an hour. The only thing I didn't like about the book is it was too short and the ending. I hope the ending is better in...
