Devil Without A Cause

It's fitting that the Kid Rock revival got started when the Beastie Boys featured him in their Grand Royal magazine--and not because the kid from Detroit shares their skin tone. Rock has often been compared with the early Beasties--the boys of "Fight for Your Right to Party" and "Brass Monkey," the boys no one ever thought would grow up. With lines like "I ain't straight outta Compton, I'm straight out the trailer" and "I started an escort service--for all the right reasons," it's obvious that Kid Rock doesn't aim to follow suit. But that's no hindrance to Devil--backed by the funky metal band Twisted Brown Trucker and special guests like blues vets Robert Bradley and Thronetta Davis, Rock is hosting one hell of an interesting party. Ultimately, Rock's party is great, schlocky fun, equal parts old Beasties and Sebastian Bach--making Devil a guilty pleasure, the Starship Troopers of hip-hop. --Randy Silver  more

Stay away!

The album is enjoyable, what you can hear of it. The album is editted for radio and ruins the whole effect. In the description it was marked as explicit lyrics. Nowhere was there any indication it was editted.I would give the work by Kid Rock, 3.5 or 4 stars, however I am dissapointed in...

Devil Without a Cause

This is probably the best CD of all time, and is definantly Kid Rock's best CD. It starts off on a bangin' song, and the album in general never lets us down, even though some songs like song #7 weren't as good. It is a shame Kid Rock decided to change his style.

Better than RUN DMC, Beastie Boys, and Pantera, combined!

Kid Rock is one of the better rap/rock groups, screw Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Public Enemy, and all those other bands.Kid Rock is better than 80s/90s metal too! More talented than Pantera, Exhorder, Judas Priest, and SepulturaKid Rock is god! For other good music check out koRn, Limp Bizkit, and...

Definitely unique and clever

First of all, let me say...great album. I bought this and I didn't know what to expect. All I knew was that this was one of the greatest selling albums of all time (look it up, it's on there) and so I figured people must like it. And for the most part, I do also. The album kicks off with one of...

I love cartoons.

Anyone writing a review of Kid Rock should understand his art at a basic level. To compare him to most other artists is to completely miss the point of his music. It's like comparing Evil Dead to Night of the Living Dead, or worse, Gone with the Wind. To start with, you must accept the Kid on his...

Too bad he sold out

The only things wrong with this album are the censorship, guest "rappers" and song arrangement which is absolutely horrible.1-13-12-7-10-5-3-9-4-2-6-8-11-14 makes it a near-masterpiece.

College Days

This song is the official soundtrack to my freshman year in college (probably the best year of my life). This whole CD reminds me of who I was at a certain time of my life (I think that's the greatest compliment to a CD). This CD mysteriously disappeared and I had to rebuy it because it meant...

A Modern Detroit Rock Classic

I bought this album the day it came out almost ten years ago in my hometown of Detroit. Since then I've bought the Limited Edition LP, all of the singles off of it, and the clean radio edition of the album just to say I own them all. To say that I love the album is probably a bit much.When...
