At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.

This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

From: Amazon Posted: Jul 01, 2008 Type: User Review Weak

If you are looking for guidance on metrics presentation or insight, pass right by this book. The pictures are nice enough I suppose; but there are many, many, and I mean many, other books, Tufte's included, that are significantly more worthwhile.

From: Amazon Posted: Jun 20, 2008 Type: User Review The least of the Four Books

This book does not hold up in comparison to the first 3 from Tuft. This appears to be made up of a number of unconnected papers. The most important in my opinion is the introduction of sparklines. It's worthwhile to revisit Minard, The inclusion...

From: Amazon Posted: Jun 14, 2008 Type: User Review Flawed

I am a big fan of Edward Tufte and his previous books. So I was excited when I was given this new book last year. Unfortunately it took a full year to work through it since it's full of bad writing, redundant graphics, boring topics, and pet...

Beautiful Evidence

The book goes to great lengths to explain the power and impact of visual imagery on the human mind. This type of psychological information can be valuable for many people in many different fields of expertise. The...

From: Amazon Posted: May 22, 2008 Type: User Review Great for the Undergraduate Classroom

While a Tufte fan for 10 years, this seemed to be a rehash of the same...was expecting more visuals...I bought this sight unseen--will not do that again from him.

From: Amazon Posted: Apr 03, 2008 Type: User Review Wonderful and eclectic

This book covers the gamut of the published works of Isaac Newton, the review of the Challenger Disaster ( A telling indictment of PowerPoint) and a review of where PowerPoint fails badly in so many ways ( yes he does not care for it) through to...

From: Amazon Posted: Dec 03, 2007 Type: User Review Amusing but not useful

Tufte's work is fun to look at, thought provoking, opinionated, and not usually very practical to apply. This book was a bit disappointing. The preachy section on power point was annoying and unhelpful, since many of us do have to present...

From: Amazon Posted: Nov 20, 2007 Type: User Review Utter disappointment

There is little here that was not in Tufte's previous, amazingly good, books on graphics and information design. Napoleon goes to Moscow? Powerpoint? Yep, seen those before. Observations on baseball and art do make up for a lack of something to...

From: Amazon Posted: Nov 06, 2007 Type: User Review Another Amazing Tufte Publication

This is yet another amazing Tufte publication. Consistent with Tufte's earlier publications, this book is composed beautifully, in terms of the quality of paper stock, ink and clarity. The book is as much a work of art as a treatise on the...
