Cajas De Carton
Cajas de cart?n is the first title in the literary series Nuestra visi?n: U.S. Latino Literature, which features original works by Latino authors living and working in the United States. This work is the Spanish version of the author's award-winning collection of stories, The Circuit. Jim?nez' 12 independent but intertwined short stories chronicle the experiences of a Mexican-American family of migrant farm laborers, as narrated by one of the children, Panchito. Unlike many readers for this level, which anthologize standard works, this book presents authentic, outstanding literature and themes that are highly relevant to native Spanish speakers in the U.S.

The Circuit
What's amazing is that this is a true story, true excerpts from the author's childhood. They are written without fluff and cheese, but the emotion is still strong and real. I like how it is written in the form of individual stories--somehow it makes these events all the more poignant. It's real,...

This book was very interesting. I loved the way this book shows how Mexicans suffer, struggle and work hard to get what they need to survive. This book has a good way of showing the different types of experiences the family goes through. It gets to a point where you get so into the book that you...

If You're Looking For NO Action...
It starts out with this Mexican family illegally coming across the border into the United States. When they get to the U.S., they go to a labor camp in California. This first labor camp is probably the best one that they go to. The whole book is about this family moving around to different labor...

THE CIRCUIT
The exotic use of Spanish words made The Circuit pleasant to read. The Spanish culture is shown throughout the book, not only by the main characters struggling to fit in, but, also the long, hard days of work for the whole family. Each chapter shows another struggle in their life. Francisco makes...
