Deutsch, Na Klar: An Introductory German Course
Deutsch: Na Klar! Second Edition is an exciting, beautifully illustrated, introductory German program that actually uses those illustrations. By incorporating lots of authentic materials as the basis of activities, this text provides students with a context for learning German. The realia and readings in Deutsch: Na Klar! are very current and give an interesting and up-to-date reflection of the culture of German-speaking counties. Students using Deutsch: Na Klar! practice all four skills, but work more on the receptive skills of listening and reading than in a traditional German text. A classroom listening comprehension tape program and the very engaging authentic readings provide this additional practice in the receptive skills. Deutsch: Na Klar! is very communicative, offering instructors a wide variety of lively exercises and activities to use in class. Because of the variety of practice material and its easy-to-follow chapter structure, Deutsch: Na Klar! succeeds with a wide range of students and teachers. more

As a beginner, I'm learning this German textbook.Gernerally, this book is well structured.I especially like the dialogues that they show in each chapter. However, sometimes grammer parts are not well organize.I think the book needs to explain more about grammer and structure. This textbook is great...

One of 'those' books
Basically, this is one of those books that is fine for classroom teaching, in that it's perfectly fine as long as you have an instructor. But, there is absolutely no reason why it should cost as much as it does (it's way too expensive here on Amazon, and $200+ at my campus bookstore!). And,...

Completely Useless, unless it's all you have.
There's really no point to owning this book if you're enrolled in a German class, and there's absolutely no reason for a self-learner to pick this up otherwise. There's a lot of people who say this book "is great if you're in a class / using video / using audio / great teacher / etc etc..." and...

Good book - but not to be used by itself...
I am currently enroled in begining German. This book is not the kind of book you can teach yourself from. You need lots of help along the way - which is fine. But the book does not stand on it's own. Also - the labs were horrible. I think you can do better for the money.

Not bad!
We use this book for german 1 and 2 here at duke. Let me start off by saying that I've never been very skilled in learning foreign languages. As such, I have a tendency to lash out at the books that are assigned the job of teaching me in this area ;) This book, I think, gives the reader every...

Wonderful College Text
This is a textbook for classroom use as opposed to self study. My two semesters of german at Penn was quite enjoyable; the textbook introduced a lot of grammar points clearly and you build vocabulary through studying themes for each chapter. I can't wait to go to Germany this summer. If your...

A beautiful book, easy to use and learn from
I have taken two semesters of college German using this book and so far, pretty good! We are in Kapitel 7 right now. I like the pictures and the realia. But I feel it gives enough grammar, too. The explanations are really clear. The accompanying materials are good, too.Unfortunately, I don't...
