Sewing
I wanted a good reference book on advanced sewing skills and this did not do that. It showed several selected types of details, none that I would ever use, and then expained how to do them. If you want a more broad explaination, this book won't work for you.

Impressed to find a book that lives up to it's title.
This is indeed a step by step book on sewing. The book is divided into two parts... the first concentrating on technique, the second on design basics. The book is formatted by using an outline to describe each sewing technique. This formatting establishes consistency and allows the reader to...

Great book with beautiful photos!
I'm self-taught, but I've been at it for about 6 years. No matter what new idea pops in my head, this book offers plenty of help to make it a reality. I especially love the section on various kinds of zippers. I have a lot of sewing books, but this is one that I couldn't live without.

comperhensive but hard to read
I admit I haven't read much of it. Just skimmed through it. It's just quite hard to read...too technical (good for those who like things technical ..I"m a more visual person) and too much information in one seating. But it's worthwhile to take time to study it once I've got more time on my hand.

I am torn on this book
It does have some great tips, and instructions on copying clothes etc. but one cannot deny that many of the "secrets" are indeed dated. For example, I can promise you that you will never need to know how to make a Double Flounce collar (page 79). Many of the designers highlighted here hit their...
