An Unfinished Life
From the acclaimed director of CASANOVA, CHOCOLAT, and THE CIDER HOUSE RULES ... Academy Award(R) winners Robert Redford (Best Director, ORDINARY PEOPLE, 1980) and Morgan Freeman (Best Supporting Actor, MILLION DOLLAR BABY, 2004) star in this powerful story of risk and redemption. Stoic and heartbroken, Einar Gilkyson (Redford) quietly lives in the rugged Wyoming ranchlands alongside his only trusted friend, Mitch Bradley (Freeman). Then, suddenly, the woman he blames for the death of his only son arrives at his door broke, desperate, and with a granddaughter he's never known. But even as buried anger and accusations resurface, the way is opened for unexpected connection, adventure, and forgiveness. Also starring Jennifer Lopez (SHALL WE DANCE?) and Josh Lucas (SWEET HOME ALABAMA, GLORY ROAD). more

The nature of things.
This movie has a quiet presence. It doesn't shout, it doesn't light up, it doesn't shake. There are few movies now which show intergenerational relationships. There are few films which include elders. We are all teachers, and hopefully when older we can have some wisdom to pass along to others....

A Movie the Whole Family will Enjoy!
"Am Unfinished Life" is a very touching, interesting story, slow moving and easily understood. It features some of the best actress/actors of our time. Typical of movies directed by Lasse Hallstrom. It is a set back and enjoy movie you will watch it over and over. I believe it has been highly...

A REALLY GOOD FILM
AN UNFINISHED LIFEHave you ever watched something and thought man that was a great movie, but once it sinks in you realize while it was good it came short of classic status. This movie is one of those unfortunately because it is actually a really good movie, and that is even with J-LO. I will...

Unfinished Life
What a shame that a movie of this quality is released almost accidentally! Everyone is stellar, but the slow to develop story takes all prizes. No flashy acting or episodes, the drama is a lovely mirror for the quietude and scenic loveliness of Wyoming. A "heartland" story that comes from the...

A real downer
Unrelentingly morose, this film has its moments. But overall, you won't laugh or cry. You'll just sit there and be somewhat depressed by the whole thing. I didn't get the whole thing with the bear and Morgan Freeman. Some kind of symbolism, I guess. And all you think when you see J-Lo is her...

Deserves More Praise
I thoroughly enjoyed this creation. A believable story told by outstanding actors. And guys, if you think this is just a chick flick, watch and see how Redford takes care of the bad guy.

One of the better films you've never heard of...
I'll admit, I'm kind of confused how this movie escaped the watchful eye of Oscar. I'm not saying that I think it was the best film of the year, but I am saying that all the elements of this film fit nicely together, and the end result is something that is very much up Oscar's alley.`An...

A great Flick
Wow!!! A great performance by all - including the bad guy. Redford and Freeman have always been favorites, but they really shined in this one. I rented this one because of the cast, then turned around and bought it. I didn't realize that it went straight to DVD. What a waste - glad I didn't miss...

We need more of this type of movie
The cast in this movie worked. I am now in the process of reading the book. I don't know why this movie got lost in the shuffle but it shouldn't have. I especally loved Becca Gardner as Griff, the granddaughter. I hope to see more of her in the future. Griff is a powerful force in the book...

How do we learn how to forgive?
[...]How do we learn how to forgive? How can I forgive if the person is no longer here? No longer speaking, nowhere near, no grave to visit, no unknown granddaughter to bring us together, no bear which forces us to face our fears. How do we learn to Love? Love this film, love the soundtrack, the...
