What a great book this is! Alternating chapters of James reflecting back on his childhood and of his mother speaking create a personal journey through their lives. A wonderful story for all to read. James has grown to love who he is and...

- the true beauty of God, whatever name you use
God's beauty (God, Yahweh, Allah, Krsna, Higher-Power, etc.) is that we are loved in spite of our failings to each other...James McBride has voiced all of God's beauty in this beautiful book.
