At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.

This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

From: Amazon Posted: May 15, 2008 Type: User Review Sony VRDMC5

The Sony VRDMC5 is very easy to use. I bought it to copy
VHS tapes to DVD. The full VHS tapes don't fit on one DVD.
There appears to be no way to shrink the image to fit.
ohwell! Mission is partially accomplished!

From: Amazon Posted: May 09, 2008 Type: User Review Best thing I every bought!

In one day this thing has already proven it's worth. I have several VHS home movies from over 12 ago years of my first husband, who has since passed away. For years now I have worried about preserving them for our daughter, who was only a baby...

From: Amazon Posted: May 07, 2008 Type: User Review All you can expect from Sony

It is perfect, painless and simple to use. The small screen helps a lot to transfer video with out the need of a lot of cables to connect a TV to see what are you recording. Fast DVD formating and great quality of final product.

A co-worker told me about this product and I ordered it the next day. I have about 250 VHS tapes and storage was becoming a problem. I weeded out the ones I'd never watch again and then began transferring about 100 of all my favorite and classics...

I bought this for two tasks: First to transfer family video shot on a Sony HC-1000 and secondly to transfer old VHS video no longer available for sale to DVD format. The first task was executed nearly flawlessly. The interface is simple and...

From: Amazon Posted: Mar 31, 2008 Type: User Review Very Limited Success, too many issues

This device was clearly created to copy bulk media from Sony cameras to DVD. Probably does that fine...I don't know since, like most people, that's not the exact hardware combination I have.

I wanted to cheaply convert my large VHS...

I have used the Sony VRDMCS recorder to transfer family analog and digital video to DVDs and have been happy with the results. Its is fairly simple to set up and use. For first time users it should be noted that the transfer of data is not fast....
