I Like recording versatility and USB input, however the freeze on DVD playback is a product killer. Not a recommended product. Sony should be ashamed.

PROS: USB input, all DVD formats, versatile Great for recording, USB input is unique to sony as far as I can find. Title feature is great. I use it for record only now and use a Panasonic bluray for DVD playback.
CONS: Occasionally freezes on playback of commercial DVD's, apparently RDR-VX535 has the same problem, no fix from sony to my knowledge.

PROS: None. Not yet anyhow. If I get this working then I might have something better to say.
CONS: Main reason for purchase was to record tons of family VHS tape to DVD. After going though initial setups, this feature does no work at all. Will keep trying but I dont have much hope at this point.

This Dvd Recorder/Vcr is very nice but it doesn't have a digital tuner. Also, after you burn a dvd, it does not automaticly finalize (make dvd useable on other players.) But this is a wonderful machine to copy VHS tapes to DVD!

PROS: When it works it works exceptionally well.
CONS: It very sensitive. Once you set your schedule, if you change it the unit gets flaky. The disk acts like its full. it freezes. sometimes it will record and sometimes it wont. it takes a while for the channels to catch up to the button pushed.

PROS: I think this machine is normally a solid machine with a great s-vid picture.
CONS: Not very user friendly. Speaking to a live person at JVC is a very taxing experience. Should not be considered a professional machine.
