Surfing on Sine Waves
Culled from the seminal Artificial Intelligence series, this was the debut release on Warp from Richard James, aka Aphex Twin. Surfing... sounds as refreshing today as it did almost a decade ago. This re-issue has two previously unreleased tracks 'Portreath Harbour' and 'Redruth School'. Standard jewel case. 2001 release. more

Not among the Twins best classics, though textbook OK
The man whom I consider quite possibly the greatest electronic artist around developed many alter egos to pursue various styles amongst his amazing arsenal of personalized sonics. Polygon Window was one such project Richard James (better known as Aphex Twin) took on to help further his sound from...

Boring
I cant say i especially like any of the songs on this album. All of them are incredibly repetitive. If you like aphex's repetitive stuff, buy it, otherwise buy one of his better albums, like Richard D. James or Drukqs

Brilliant.
I got this album uninterestedly, having just found Mr. James and and buying all of his albums blindly. It's pretty amazing - I have a reccurrent thought that the music can't possibly fit on a CD. The sound occassionally muddles, as if it was recorded from a record and someone pressed down the...

This was great for its time, but 13yrs have gone by....
Do we have to look back with such nondiscerning compassion? My friend gave me a copy of this, and it was a mild listen at best. But you have to remember the technology of the time - imagine what John Cage would have done with todays computers and software!! So if you want a museum peice, then drop...

Better than the Aphex Twin "..I care because you do" and
"Richard D James Album" releases for this 'punter'. It is almost worth 4 and 1/2 stars - as is the 'Selected Ambient Works 85-92' Aphex Twin album. As far as standout tracks go:1) 'Polygon Window' - is a great first track, pretty laid back for RDJ2) 'Audax Powder' - has a great jaunty vibe and is...

Haunted land
The music seems very haunted. Aphex's more ambient textures mixed into the heavy hitting techno terrain make this a strange listen. It doesn't really sound dated......just a bit outside of time really. Very dislocated - almost like the guy surfing out on seashore on his own at the back of the...

Personable Music
It seems a few others here have picked up on the cryptic cynycism of this album"If It Really Is Me" is practically self-explanitory. It makes me think of a miserable woman clutching all-too-tightly onto her reality. And I also don't see listed here the untitled track #7 (not quixote) which gets...

a little twisted
Just great. I am a fan of his music for quite a while and all of his records are special in their own way. Tracks with a little twist only RDJ can add. Sometimes a bit sinister, but thats ok for me! Most of his tracks are sertainly refreshing and energy boosting. A philosopher teacher once said:...

Don't buy 'expanded'- 2 tracks shorter than non!-
I guess this is what I get for not reading the tracklists) carefully enough. The so-called 'expanded' version of this cd is missing 'portreath harbor' + 'redruth school,' both of which are found under the "normal" release. The 'expanded' version is on WARP + TVT, and the (truly) expanded version...
