Not Much Help.

If you're on this page you may already be well aware of how great this album is, unfortunately, all I can do is add more fuel to this amazing black ring of musical fire.

Adictive

One of those albums that you cannot stop listening to. Beautiful melodies, crunchy beats - a really nice amalgamation of electronic and acoustic instrumentation.

My my.

I bought the CD shortly after downloading the song "Pick up the Phone" from some kids on Livejournal. It sat in my bedroom collecting dust for three or four months after an initial listen left me with an impression far different than that of "Pick up the Phone" gave me. Some months later, I...

Today I step out of your past

Clean and crunchy beats sputtering under a layered synth soundscape that's half rock and half etherial electronic pop, with perfectly restrained and plaintive vocals that slip in some deceptively powerful lyrics. This album should not be missed, and it's sad that the pop pilfering of The Postal...

Belle & Sebastian meets Kraftwerk

If I had to describe this album to the uninitiated, it would be "the love-child of Belle & Sebastian and Kraftwerk". Take the plaintive vocals of Stuart Murdoch and combine them with the Casio synth beats of Kraftwerk, and you'll have a pretty good idea of what The Notwist sound like. And it works...

Outstanding

Probably one of the most delicate albums I have ever heard. The Notwist's sound is so carefully constructed, yet so rich I can't be anything other than blown away by it. I know tons of bands who are desperately trying to sound like The Notwist on Neon Golden (Das Pop, dEUS, amongst others), yet I...

sofa... so good.

This album is perfect. Picked it up today after hearing only the first track, and it is beyond what I expected. It is beautiful in every sense of the word. The songwriting, the lyrics, the packaging... All of it was worth every penny. I would have gladly paid five times what I did for the album....

Ahh, you know, this would go great with a martini

For having listened to this album a number of times, it's amazing that I can still find new things hidden within it. It truely isn't something that I would advise listening to when you're in the happiest mood ever. (You might remember some horrible childhood trama that you never wanted to think...

The Poor Hypnotized Listeners

I wonder if the same thing happens to me, but it seems people always get hypnotized into thinking some actually crappy groups is really good. I think certain types of brains are more susceptible to the powers of the subliminal hypnosis, and others are not. You see, when we read the reviews on...
