what a delight

Finally, a Karen Robards book I would happily recomend. The charactors were well developed. Their relationship was mostly realistic. All and all a good well written story. My only complaint is that there were a couple of charactors who were completely unnecessary, they didn't add to the story and...

Skip this one - I stopped half way through.

The characters are unlikable, story improbable and the book is just plain boring! The mother is a judge who uses the title to try to control and bully those around her. Was she supposed to be a "strong woman" or just an unpleasant one? Her world revolves around her daughter - can anyone see a...

Sorry Excuse for a Crime Drama

** I gave this 2 stars, the 3-star rating is a mistake**Anyone who knows anything about law enforcement and/or crime scene investigation work will not enjoy this book. The story is about a single mother, Grace, who works as a Domestic Court Judge yet has complete lack of control over her own...

Irritating book!

I had several problems with this one:Grace is a juvenile court judge whose daughter is out of control. Grace's solution is to keep grounding Jessica, which is pointless since her daughter ignores her and sneaks out anyway. Gee, Judge Grace, has the word "counseling" ever been used in your...

A bit disappointing

I just love "Maggy's Child", "One Summer", and "This Side fo Heaven" from Karen Robards. So when I bought "The Midnight Hour", I was expecting it to be just as good as the other three that I've read. However, it was not. The storyline was interesting, but the book is soooo boring during the...

Mystery and Sex , Please!

This was a good mystery novel but some of the sex scenes were way too much for mystery fans. I was listening to an audio book and couldn't easily skip those scenes. I will have to stick with books if I read more of her. I then can skip over the sex and still enjoy the mystery. Barbara...

Boring beginning but great ending!

"Someone wants to hurt my daughter." "No, it was just a prank", said the police. "My daughter is in danger." "No, you are reading too much out of it", said the police. "Someone is following her". "It is probably a silly thing that a kid from your daughter's school pulled", the police trying...

Great Book!

Unlike some other people that were dissapointed in this book, I found it extremely entertaining. I was very happy that Grace and Tony didn't fall in love within the first few chapters. I was really surprised at the ending, where the other books of Ms. Robards were VERY predictable. I really...

Very well written

I very much enjoyed this book. I liked the way the author slowly brought out bits and pieces about the main players lives. The back stories of the hero and heroine were quite compelling. . . and I had a nagging feeling about the end. Happy to see the pay off. I'd recommend this story!
