At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.
This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

Review of Dell Inspiron 8500 Laptop
The other comments on here talk of Dell's horrible service, but in my experience their service is the best out there. This laptop works well for what it was designed to do. The complainers buy a laptop like this and expect more out of it than it was

Review of Dell Inspiron 8500 Laptop
The Dell Inspiron 8500 is basically a pile of junk and is no use to anybody. For the price you buy this, you could buy an Apple ibook.
PROS: This laptop has great speck everything. It is almost as good as a 1920's typewriter.
CONS: Hd space, speed, looks, graphics. Needless to talk about the battery life.

Review of Dell Inspiron 8500 Laptop
My Dell Inspiron 8500 was delivered surprisingly rapidly in november 2003. At christmas the dvd player started becoming erratic in its operation. I sent it back to Dell and it came back 3 weeks !! later. Unfortunately they had changed the XP Pro to X
PROS: Display
CONS: Erratic dvd player, technical support is, like other reviewers have stated, an utter farce. AVOID...
