The Art Book For Children
A perfect introduction to art for children everywhere, The Art Book, Children?s Edition brings the clarity and innovation of Phaidon?s best-selling The Art Book to our youngest readers ever. An A to Z guide of 30 great artists ? each featured on a double-page spread ? and their most famous works designed for both parent and child to enjoy together. The book encourages the children to look closely at the featured works and use their imagination to understand why artists choose to create the pieces they do and in the ways that they do. From Leonardo?s Renaissance masterpiece Mona Lisa to Andy Warhol?s iconic Marilyn, from Jeff Koons? exuberant, flower-encrusted Puppy to Botticelli?s beautiful, flower-strewn Primavera, 30 works have been selected from The Art Book especially for this edition, chosen for their vital importance in art history as well as their appeal to children. The giants of art history ? Van Gogh, Matisse, Rembrandt, Turner and Velázquez ? are all here, but this edition also offers its readers an introduction to challenging, recent artists including Cindy Sherman and Donald Judd. The Art Book, Children?s Edition makes this broad, exciting selection of 30 key works across the history of art clear and accessible to children from age seven and upwards, but will be of interest to readers of all ages.

our three year old granddaughter loves it. we are now on to volume 2
we sent this book to our three year old granddaughter. she not only loves the pictures, the pictures lead her to also concentrate on learning letters and words. it is a book that she will continue to "read" in more and more depth for a long time. we highly recommend this book.

Stunning introduction to fine art for kids (and anyone) - puts the focus on the details.
This isn't a book for little kids (although little kids might enjoy looking at it). It's a big colorful book with lots of eclectic art masterpieces - from the Renaissance to the conceptual modern sculpture - with thoughtful analysis and wealth of break out images highlighting particular details...

Jump start your creative juices
I checked this out from the library and kept it so long, I decided I needed to have my own copy. I am purchasing it, not only for myself and children to look at and discover the art, but as a resource for art projects at the camp I work for. It gets your wheels turning about all the different...

Great interactive art book!
This book, along with the Art Book for Children Book One, is a wonderfully imaginative collection of art. Each piece is complemented with great background on the work of art and interactive questions. This isn't an academic resource with a lot of historical or biographical detail, but one that...

Educational, But Not Entertaining
Based on the book's description and my quickly reading some of the laudable reviews published here, I thought "The Art Book for Children" would be the perfect gift for one of my favorite 11-year olds, an art-prize winner. Surprisingly, it's two days after Christmas and still he hasn't shown much...

Great for opening young minds.
My daughter wasn't interested in the first Art Book for Children until she turned 6, but then she REALLY loved it. She likes to sit with me and ask questions about the paintings in the book. I was very excited to see that the second one was coming out. I love the color of the cover and my...

For Students and Teachers in Art Classes ?!
The book looks wonderfull, I guess it will make a great gift for [...] (or their teachers). After the success of The Art Book it's to understand that PHAIDON Press is addressing youngsters (and their parents). For (almost) the same price, probably used, you may get The Art Book BUT ::: There's...

Spectacular Introduction to the World of Art!
My son found an awesome book at our local library that I plan to purchase and make part of our home library. And while this book is written for children, I have already learned a lot myself. I don't have much background in art and a class that I took in college on Art History left me scratching...
