Shepherd Moons

From: $13.97

The success of her first international hit, Watermark, confirmed Enya as less a singer or songwriter than a sonic architect: working with producer Nicky Ryan and his wife, lyricist Roma Ryan, the classically-trained pianist built vaulting cathedrals of sound, framed by luminous piano, shimmering synthesizer orchestrations, and, above all, the seemingly infinite layers of vocal harmonies she plied on every song. The deeply romantic Celtic pop on its 1991 successor, Shepherd Moons, sustains the same spectrum of hushed reverie and surging, rhapsodic releases, as well as its mix of ballads, floating midtempo pieces, and forays into Celtic and Latin--and it's every bit as seductive. The terminally hip will sneer, but it's no accident that "Caribbean Blue," the best known song here, managed to sneak onto modern rock, top 40, "adult alternative" and public radio playlists. --Sam Sutherland

The zenith of Enya's work. Ethereal and hauntingly beautiful. Marble Halls alone is worth the CD price.

From: Amazon Posted: Oct 19, 2006 Type: User Review Simply Beautiful!

Enya's cover albums are like a work of art in itself. Then once you listen, you can't imagine how beautiful and angelic of a voice. This compact disc was one of many. You feel like sailing away her to voice when you hear Caribbean Blue and other...

From: Amazon Posted: Jun 17, 2006 Type: User Review Rainbow of sounds and pleasure

Shepherd moons was my first introduction to Enya back in 1991. Her style and haunting voice rooted themselves in my soul ever since then and the song called Caribbean Blue still stops me in my tracks everything I have the pleasure of hearing it....

"Shepherd Moons" is hands down one of the best albums EVER! When I decide if an album deserves this stature, not every song has to be perfect, but every song DOES have to be very good. This certainly applies here.

From: Amazon Posted: Jun 15, 2006 Type: User Review One of Enya's best

Go back in time--and hear that Enya was a truly talented singer/songwriter before her current (though baffling) success with "Amarantine." "Shepherd Moons" shows the magic that once was.

Highlights-
1)Shepherd Moons-This is...

From: Amazon Posted: Apr 02, 2006 Type: User Review Beautiful indeed.

It might be my fascination with how perfectly Enya correlates herself with the world of Tolkien and all things Middle-Earth, but if we were to skip that detail, this album in and of itself is beautiful.

This must be one of her best...
