At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.
This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

"A great laptop for just anything at all."
I just purchased this laptop and I thought it was amazing. It's really fast and the power management is amazing as well. The graphics are good. It runs pretty much anything. Just one thing to do is to upgrade the ram to it's maximum 2 GB.
PROS: Long battery life, wide screen, fast, good graphics for a laptop.
CONS: Fan gets loud when running high resource applications, a bit heavy.

"A real trooper!"
I'd bought my Dell Inspiron 6000 used for about 40$, the OS had died and the owner just wanted to get rid of if because he'd purchased a tower PC. I'm technologically inclined so after a little fenageling and the addition of 512RAM (for a total of 1G
PROS: Tough, large screen, great performance, great for famlies.
CONS: Bulky, need to take it apart to clean the fan bi-monthly, overheats quickly in it's old age.

"Stay away from this model"
This is probably my 11th or 12th Dell notebook/desktop in the last 10 years, and probably the worst. 1. Wireless (Broadcom, but dell branded as 1310?) doesn't connect correctly with my netgear router after coming back from suspend. Intel wireless on
PROS: decent display/perf
CONS: wireless, keyboard, weight and size
