i purchased two of these subwoofers and have them in a ported box. they are loud but i have had problems with the voice coils, they get to hot and then melt. this happened to both subs at different times. i was told that kicker might replace them

This sub hits very hard for what it is but the coils get VERY HOT, even at mild levels you can smell the voice coils roasting. Impressed by output levels, but disappointed by life of the speaker.

I have 2001 Lincoln LS....i used to have Type R's and my Rockford Fosgate 1500-BD amp was killing those subs....then i got Polk Audio SRC 12's and those blew in 2 weeks everytime...so then i upgraded to these bad boys...my trunk is about to explode..
