Bogen / Manfrotto 468MGRC2 Magnesium Hydrostatic Ballhead with Rapid Connect 2 System (RC2 Quick Release) - Supports 22 lb (10 kg)

From: $244.95

Bogen / Manfrotto 468MGRC2 Hydrostatic Ballhead with RC2 Quick Release Bogen / Manfrotto 468 M G R C 2 Hydrostatic Ballhead with R C 2 Quick Release The Bogen/Manfrotto 468MGRC2 is designed to meet the demands of professional photographers who require a light weight head but at the same time want to support heavy camera loads up to 22 lb. The 468MG series uses a hydraulic system to lock the ball mechanism in place. Using hydraulics instead of a mechanical system produces a super-tight lock from a minimal turn of the locking knob, without sacrificing the smoothness of the ball's movement when unblocked. To keep weight low, the head is made of magnesium; and to provide smooth movements the 1.25 aluminum ball is Teflon coated. The oversized ball locking knob allows for easy control even when using gloves. This head further offers a range of handy features: independent pan and tilt locks with a 360deg; pan movement; +90/-90deg; tilt movement; a graduated engraved panoramic base; and a calibrated adjustable friction control on the main knob. The 468MGRC2 version uses the popular RC2 ( 3157N ) quick release system, which is small and light enough to leave permanently attached to your compact or SLR camera even when not using a tripod. I had this ballhead for a few weeks. I thought the construction of the head was excellent. Superbly designed and crafted. Where it all falls apart for me is the Bogen RC2 rapid connect system. It just does not work well with heavy gear, and items...

From: Amazon Posted: May 22, 2008 Type: User Review Ideal design, just a bit heavy

The Manfrotto Hydrostatic Ball Head uses a unique hydrolic fluid system to apply even pressure to immobilize the ball head. The result is minimal effort to twist the knob and a strong, steady, unmoving head. This ball head is by far the best...

From: Amazon Posted: Jul 19, 2007 Type: User Review Precision and strength in the same tripod head

Hydrostatic ball heads by Manfrotto are excellent stuff. Of course they are more expensive than other fine heads. But think that the overcost will be easily amortized and that in the future you may sell your camera body for parts, or you may sell...

From: Amazon Posted: Mar 08, 2007 Type: User Review She's a heavy...

This thing is pretty heavy, putting it onto my carbon fiber tripod probably doubled the weight...

The hydrostatic locks WORKS- you turn it 20-30 degrees and the ball isn't moving.

The quick-release lock is a bit fiddly,...
