At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.

This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

From: Amazon Posted: May 17, 2008 Type: User Review Superb Lens

I bought this lens to compliment my Canon 40D. I like the constant f2.8, ultrasonic motor and L quality lens. It's definitely bigger and heavier than the f4.0 but with the collar attached to a monopod, it gave me stability.

From: Amazon Posted: Mar 01, 2008 Type: User Review Stellar Lens

This lens is perfect. I was in a internal struggle about purchasing the f/2.8 IS and the f/2.8. I knew the neither of the f/4 models were fast enough for me when I shoot indoor sports events. The question was Image Stabilizer and 400 extra dollars...

This is a beautiful lens that is comparable to prime lens throughout its 70 to 200 range. Pricy, but worth it.

From: Amazon Posted: Jan 13, 2008 Type: User Review Another Canon great product

Excellent and versatile lens. A bit pricy but I'd recommend it to anyone with a Canon EOS camera. I have a 20D and this is a great addition to my lens collection. Terrific at most any range.

From: Amazon Posted: Dec 19, 2007 Type: User Review Fantastic Image Quality, Better than IS Version

OK, first off, I won't repeat how professionally sharp this lens is. It's expensive, and there's a reason. Image quality is stupid amazing. This is the best zoom in its focal-length class.

But--the IS version is not quite as sharp as...

From: Amazon Posted: Dec 18, 2007 Type: User Review GREAT LENS!!

This is my first 'L' lens from Canon and I must say I am not disappointed in it, even though it's a pricey piece of equipment for the bag. I agree with all the 5-star ratings this lens gets - it's without a doubt worth the money. My only regret...

From: Amazon Posted: Dec 17, 2007 Type: User Review What I would expect from an "L" series lens...

I'm not going to rehash how great this lens is, and yes it is. As of yet, I have no IS lenses, but try to stick to "L" series glass. I had thought about purchasing the IS version, but would rather put the extra $500 into another high quality...

stunning picture quality, whether sealed, IT'S CANON L, fast AF (speed of light). since it's non IS, it depends when you need or on your shooting purpose. but as far as I know IS does not make...
