Canon Speedlite 430EX Flash Light

This exciting new addition to the EOS System combines compact size and affordability with an added dose of features and sophistication. Improving on the previous model, Speedlite 420EX, the new 430EX can now be set into manual flash mode (full power~1/64). Flash compensation can be set on the flash unit, and manual control of the flash zoom head is now possible. Improvements in its circuitry make recycle time 40% faster, and since it is compatible with Canon's wireless E-TTL, it can be used as an affordable "slave unit".  more

Great flash

I purchased this flash to use during an anniversary party. It worked flawlessly and since then I have used it for all my indoor photos, and some outdoor as well. This is a HUGE improvement over the built-in flash and can be positioned to get just t

Great flash

The 430EX is a great flash that is an incredible improvement over the built in flash of any model. I've used this flash several times with excellent results and great recycle time (until the batteries get low). Great experience with the bounce and manual settings. Canon obviously produces...

Lucky me!

I bought the 430EX at the last minute since I was volunteered as a wedding photographer. It was fabulous and when in doubt, I just let it do its thing without human interference. It didn't eat batteries. (One set of lithium batteries covered the entire evening). I could have used the...

Sweet Flash

I generally try to use a flash as little as possible. I love available light, but in a jam the 430EX is pretty nice to have. Minus the wireless triggering capability of the 580EX, I 430EX seems to pack the same punch. Its very easy to use, especially playing around with flash compensation...

Nice flash for a nice price.

It works great. It does all that I need it to do while responding immediately, so I am hard pressed to miss those critical family pictures. For the price, you cannot go wrong in my book.

An external flash such as the Canon Speedlite 430EX Flash are one of the most popular accessories among Digital SLR (and film SLR for that matter) owners. Why? Why use an external flash? The answer may be obvious to owners of camera bodies without a built-in flash, but not so clear to those...
