Tiffen Haze 2A 52 mm Round UV Filter

Film, as well as video, often exhibits a greater sensitivity to what is to us invisible, ultraviolet light. This is most often outdoors, especially at high altitudes, where the UV-absorbing atmosphere is thinner; and over long distances, such as marine scenes. It can show up as a bluish color cast with color film, or it can cause a low-contrast haze that diminishes details, especially when viewing far-away objects, in either color or black-and-white. Ultraviolet filters absorb UV light generally without affecting light in the visible region. It is important to distinguish between UV-generated haze and that of air-borne particles, such as smog. The latter is made up of opaque matter that absorbs visible light as well as UV, and will not be appreciably removed by a UV filter. The Haze-2A filter absorbs virtually all UV light and reduces haze more than the Haze-1. Perfect for use in high altitudes and along bodies of water, it's ideal for aerial shots, mountain scenes and marine scenes. The filter also maintains color and image clarity.  more

Great Tiffen Consistency

Bought this for my 18-55mm Nikon lens on my newly purchased D80 D-SLR. Threaded onto the flange nicely and is low profile enough to not interfere with wide angle shots. Element rotates smoothly but remains in place between shots and...

Great filter

Very good filter for blocking background movement. You capture just the object of your desire, but none of the things moving in the background. Also very good for reducing harsh sunlight entering the lens, if you have to take pictures...

There are some scratches around the rings, and dust on the filter surface. I bought brand-new but they looked USED to me.Still, tried them on, didn't see any difference between pic taken with filter and the one without. I returned them...
