Compared with conventional high-definition digital cameras, the Xacti HD1 is incredibly compact. The super-slim body, with a volume of around 200 cc and a weight of around 210 g, fits easily in your pocket or purse, so you can take it anywhere. Yet it shoots high-definition MPEG-4 movies at 1280 x 720 pixels and 30 fps. The Xacti HD1 records exceptionally beautiful and detailed high-definition movies in the world's smallest and lightest shell.  more

"Less than one year -- three breakdowns"

I bought this for all the bells and whistles. The convenience of the SD card and direct access is great. BUT in less than one year, it has gone back to the company for repair twice and it has another problem. No matter how sweet features are, they're

Sanyo's handy VPC-HD1 offers high-definition 720p movie recording in a very compact package. Small enough to fit in your pocket, it allows you to record around 40 minutes of real HD content on a 2GB SD card using MPEG4 compression. Up to 10x optical zoom is possible, and video files are easy to...

"A Good Start"

1 ) biggest disappointment is that the "charging base" does NOT charge off the USB connection ( although the booklet says it does ) .... For one who travels and hates to carry all the bricks & boxes ( adapters )of computers, printers, etc ...this would have been a great feature ... 2 ) the...

"Great doorstop"

I've purchased this product especially to get pictures of my neborn baby. Big mistake : I've actualy taken better pictures with my 2003 cellphone. As soon as the light is below sunlight level, the image is blurry. The flash is too small and has a short range, and creates a weird halo blueish...

"NOT WHAT I EXPECTED"

This camera was a very big dissapoint. HD does you no good when the crisper, high resolution picture does nothing more for you then show in detail how bad the image sensor records the image. The auto focus is slow, low-light shooting out of the box is impossible, and the images are filled wit a...

"hd1A is out, big improvment, great home camera"

The HD1 is listed here, but the HD1A came out in Sep and its a big improvement. This camera is very small and light. I wanted it for recording the kids. I was tired of having to transfer DV tape to the computer in real time and wanted to just stick a memory card in and have it on the computer,...

Xacti takes on Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan

Pros: Small, SD memory nice, easy to use Cons: Low light performance dismal, focus issues I took the Xacti across Vietnam on a motorcycle, and I recommend it for travellers. It is a tweaky machine, really good for a photo-geek. I was immediately struck with the dismal low-light performance,...

"SO very nearly the all in one solution"

In my opinion the future for family video and still image capture will be with one device, and this is so nearly it. However low light performance is poor, and still images would be a bit better with a tiny dedicated still digicam. Great to transfer 1 hr of HD video to PC in a couple of minutes...

"Exceptionally cool"

Bought HD1a in Hong Kong for about $625 US including 4 MB card, case, spare battery and tripod. Was up and shooting within 15 minutes - anyone familiar with a digital camera can use quickly and painlessly. Despite what some have said, I found video quality very good with one exception - HD looks...
