Can't find speaker wires behind drywall

My home was prewired for in-wall speakers. I had a rough drawing from the contractor on where the speaker wires were located in ceiling. I found one wire end in the attic, and bought this tone generator/pulse thinking I could find where the wires terminated before cutting holes in the dry wall....
