The HP dv 6000 has got to be one of the worst laptop s i have ever had to deal with always going wrong if its not the sound its the power button or the screen not working, Hp tech are a total waist of time as well.

Review of HP Pavilion DV6000 Laptop

Would never buy an HP ever again. Very very poor build quality. Wireless packed up 13 months after purchase. Graphics card has now given up the ghost after 18 months. Don't expect a £500 laptop to last such as short period of time....
