Mark Twain's recipe
Diehard Buffett fans don't need another review to tell them why to buy this excellent CD, nor do new Buffett fans. Besides being an excellent musical offering, Jimmy Buffett once again shows how well-read and well-traveled he is. Good liner notes are essential to the critical listener that...

Almost 5 Star
This is more like it. To me "Soup" is a much better album than "Fruitcakes" and I rate it right up with his classic albums. Almost every song here is a winner. The album starts with the title track "Barometer Soup" which is one of those songs that you hear it once and you can't get it out of...

One of his worst ever
Sometime around the mid 1980s I noticed that Rolling Stone stopped writing reviews of Jimmy's releases. This made sense, since he never really did anything new or different (until the 2000's). This one is just more of the same banal/lackluster junk he put out during a 15 year drought.

My first Buffett CD and still my favorite
This was the first Buffett CD I bought and it is still my favorite. I remember listening to this one in the summer of 1995, during which I spent probably too much time on Spanish Banks. It set the mood perfectly, and was always on the player during the afternoon sailing jaunts. If these sorts of...

This is the Buffet I grew up with
Like many young Buffet fans, I was weaned on "Songs You Know By Heart" and his older material. Unfortunately, Buffet hasn't had as much success with his newer albums. Many of the songs are largely forgettable, and just don't have that same relaxed feeling of his past hits. There maybe one or...

Pour me a drink!
Picked up this CD just recently. I actually prefer it to both his box set and his greatest hits album. The whole album just feels like it flows better than his earlier works (and I love his older stuff too!). If you're just starting your Buffett collection, start here. You won't regret it.

Perfect Parrothead Pleasure
Jimmy does it again! If relaxation is your credo, then is is truly an album to mellow out to. The arrangements are perfectly done, and JB's lyrical rhyming is again without peer. Of particular note is "Remittance Man", one of my favorite ballads that he's EVER written, as well as "The Night I...

2nd best CD of 90's
Behind "Fruitcakes", this is his best work of the 90's. Recorded in Key West. You can feel the energy of the keys in this recording. GREAT album. Fast and slow songs alike are awesome. Very well recorded sonically, and great song choices. A must have for all Buffett fans. "Mexico" is perhaps the...

Best Buffett album in my opinion
I have to say, out of all my Buffett cd's, which is all of them, I listen to this one the most. Bank of Bad Habits really shows Buffett's guitar playing talent and Barometer Soup always makes me smile. On the boat or in the car, Barometer soup will make everyday feel like summer!
