At Smarter.com, we aim to ensure we give you the most sound buying advice possible. With our 'Cumulative Product Rating' system, in order for a product to receive a rating score, it must have a minimum number of ratings to qualify.
This system is not intended to diminish the value of products with a low number of ratings and reviews, they're great, and hopefully very helpful, but if you want our advice, we want to make sure that the product you're thinking of buying has been rated and reviewed by enough shoppers like you to be a valuable indicator of product quality.

Great feature set, but software and audio quality problems forced return
We bought this because we needed a new clock/radio/alarm and decided to go a little overboard. We really needed CD and iPod integration with a dual alarm clock. This isn't the only unit with those features, but it was one of the few. This thing...

Great features and sound
I agree with the other user who said that the S-52 is difficult to set up. It requires some patience in entering the Network information (e.g. WPA password), and a few times of saying, "Stink, I hit the wrong button again." But, once you get past...

Good start but needs more flexibility.
Overall, I'm satisfied with my Denon S-52. It's very well-built and feels very solid (it weighs over 14 pounds!) with impressive build quality. The WLAN antenna on the back is detachable so you can use a different Wi-Fi antenna if you need extra...

"Typical DENON set-up issues but WOW! The pain is worth every hour!"
It should ship with a "BANG HEAD HERE" sticker for you to place on the hard surface of your choosing. Setting up the WiFi on a secure network takes a great deal of patience - especially if you have a 32 character key (which cannot contain a space as
PROS: It plays music via the net, the air (analog & digital HD), USB, media servers, iPOD, and XM (with additional hardware) - and YES it really works
CONS: If you own any newer DENON products, you know how minimalist the interface and manuals are - this is definitely NOT a PLUG & PLAY unit. The price is steep as well.

Nice radio...
I got the receiver primarily because of the iPod dock, HD Radio, and Denon's reputation, though some of the other features such as the Internet radio interested me as well. Overall, I am enjoying this product very much. iPod integration is very good

"What they don't tell you."
At $700 plus tax this radio is virtually worthless. You need to buy a subwoofer to realize adequate base. You need to buy an ((XM)) Radio mini-tuner at $70 plus shipping to receive ((XM)) Radio. Will not function with Mac OSX, therefore, no PC radio
PROS: Relatively good audio.
CONS: Need to purchase $60 of hardware from ((XM)) radio to function. Does not work with Mac OSX therefore no PC radio, no internet radio, no upgr. Terrible manual. Customer Service wait times 40-60 minutes

"Awesome Internet Radio"
This table top radio does it all: AM/FM/XM, HD Radio, PC Streaming, CD player, iPod and USB docking and best of all: Internet radio. The Denon S-52 is slightly larger -- and much heavier -- than a Bose Wave Radio. I bought the S-52 to easily listen
PROS: Streams radio stations from around the world; Streams music from your PC
CONS: Price; Poor setup and operation instructions; Poor AM HD Radio reception; Unit runs hot, even when off

Great product
This product is great but it suffers from being version 1. The firmware that runs the product still need a lot of work to be more user friendly.

Difficult to Set Up but Well Worth It
I am definitely not an early adopter of new technologies. I purchased an IPod only a few months ago. However, what attracted me to the new Denon S52 is the idea of being able to listen to radio stations from around the world. As a young man, I...
