Audio Magic - Not
This unit started to hum after a while and their tech blamed it on my PC's power supply. They thought it may be a faulty grounding problem in regards to the USB connection. Yeah Right. Anyway, I did not find this to be any better then the cheaper Creative audio products I have used in the past...

Excellent product unless you run MacOS X 10.5 Panther
I bought this product a few months ago from another retailer. I use it with a MacBook 2ghz, 2GB RAM, blah blah blah. When I ran MacOS 10.4 Panther it worked great. The audio quality is excellent *IF* your source inputs are clean. By that I mean, if you're using a high quality microphone with XLR...

Just what I wanted
The Emu 404 was just what I wanted. While it is obviously not professional quality sound, it is perfect for home recording. My one suggestion is don't skimp on a mic. the better the mic the more you'll get out of this interface.

Doesn't get better than this for the price
I have to say, EMu has really put out some fantastic products in the past few years. I have two 1212Ms and they are stellar. So, I decided to use this for some simple audio processing and then tossed my ekit through it. The sound is very clean, and the timbre seems true, maybe slightly forgiving....

Good Product - medium footprint
I purchased this when I found out that the Steinburg MIDEX-8 would not work with Intel Macs after I purchased a Mac Pro (Steinburg discontinued support for the MIDEX-8 in 2003). I was really looking for a MIDI interface but this unit also provides me with guitar and microphone inputs which is a...

A dissapointing unit from E-mu
I'm a bit of an audiophile. My desktop PC has an E-mu 1820M which I love, so I'm not biased at all against the company (quite the opposite), but the 0404 USB is a big disappointment. My unit has real problems turning on. If I flip the power switch often only the "Power On" indicator will light,...

Incredible quality at a bargain price
I use this in an Home Theater setup. This external USB DAC is a steal at this price. It contains the same DSP as the $2000 "Transporter". On my high-end system, my PC-based media setup (PC running Foobar2000 -> ASIO Drivers -> EMU USB -> Home Theater) ... rivals the sound I get from my high-end...

Great starting point for a budding audiophile
This is my first soundcard purchase that is not an internal Audigy. I'm impressed! There is absolutely no noise interference (with my internal, I would sometimes hear the crunching of my harddrive through the speakers). The driver works fine on Windows XP x64, which is a miracle. The built-in...

Very nice
Awesome latency as low as 2 or 3 ms. Can plug in my electric guitar and use a sowftware amp, can plug in my MIDI keyboard of course and microphones. Only downside to this, it has to have an external power source, so using it for portablity with your laptop isn't so great. Oh and windows Vista...

Decent, but better options available
I was quite excited about getting this sound card. At first I was a little concerned about using a USB 2.0 interface (versus a firewire interface) and I must say that I'm still not convinced that USB 2.0 is stable enough to support a real time / ASIO audio device. The pre-amps on the 0404 are...
