Shown here is the Rose Garden. Woven in wool with a touch of silk, this design originates from a carpet woven during the reign of Jahangir from 1605 to 1627. During this Mughal King\'s reign, trade with the west brought European botanical paintings to India, which inspired Mughal artists to reproduce their own plants in their carpets. The Taj Mahal also supports similar designs on its walls, ceilings, and floors. Each Mughal emperor in India had a direct impact on the construction and designs of the carpets woven during his time period. As Persian carpets were originally imported, Persian taste is extremely evident in Indian carpets. The rug shown here uses the designs and themes created during the reign of Jahangir 1605-27. The carpets woven during Jahangir\'s reign reflect his love for the plants and gardens of the natural world.
