Signs (Vista Series)
From M. Night Shyamalan, the writer/director of THE SIXTH SENSE and UNBREAKABLE, comes the story of the Hess family in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, who wake up one morning to find a 500-foot crop circle in their backyard. Graham Hess (Mel Gibson) and his family are told extraterrestrials are responsible for the sign in their field. They watch, with growing dread, the news of crop circles being found all over the world. SIGNS is the emotional story of one family on one farm as they encounter the terrifying last moments of life as the world is being invaded. "It's easy for a filmmaker to blow up the world -- but what Shyamalan does is much riskier. He tries to blow our minds. I was engaged by every inch of SIGNS." - Richard Roeper, Ebert & Roeper. more

The ending ruins it
(Review contains spoilers)Signs is a movie that starts out kind of slow, then gets more suspenseful as time goes on, looks promising for a little while, and then falls completely flat.I'm going to mention but mostly ignore the obvious flaws in the plot, like the fact that the aliens to whom water...

Thrills And Chills With A Spiritual Message
I recently watched SIGNS for the first time and was surprised it was so much "deeper" than the usual "alien invader" movie. I'm not a big Mel Gibson fan but I can't deny his acting is first rate as a priest who has lost his faith after a personal tragedy. Juaquin Phillips is also very good as...

"There's a monster outside my room. Can I have a glass of water?"
Back when M. Night Shamalamadingdong was still thought of as a Hollywood wunderkind, SIGNS, following The Sixth Sense (Collector's Edition Series) and Unbreakable (Two-Disc Vista Series), merely reaffirmed the man's cinematic creds. Donning our Hindsight-Is-20/20 Goggles, we note that The Village...

CINEMA PERFECTION
While those who are new to Mr. Shyamalans' directing style may have been somewhat turned off by his recent release (The Happening) those who refuse to see this film do themselves a great disservice. The plot reolves around one Pennsylvanian family recovering from a recent tragedy who now watch...

The best movie of 2002
`Signs' is a movie that is so multi-faceted that it is near impossible to sum it up in a single review. The movie is terrifying, hilarious, inspirational, moving, thrilling, and very rewarding. Director M. Night Shymalan (`The Sixth Sense') goes against the grain of modern horror movies and...

Good but not great.
Signs is a messy kind of film. The idea sounds good but the execution and delivery ultimately falls to pieces. The cast is strong, Mel Gibson, Joaquin Phoenix, and adorable Abigail Breslin keep this suspense thriller watchable but this film is not scary in any way. M. Night Shyamalan's films are...

Sci-fi thriller with a twist
This movie is mostly about us questioning whether there is life on another planet and questioning your faith in God all in one movie . It's a great movie for all members of the family , as long as they are old enough not to be afraid of a M. Night Shyamalan movie in general, as they can be a...

All you have to fear is fear itself?
The problem of UFO's and crop circles puzzles a lot of us.It is clear that calling every siting ball lightening or weather balloons is no long going to cut it, when the government response is usually out of proportion to them being 'nothing'?Movies like this one that prey on fear are probably not...

It's kind of.............meh.....
It's not a bad movie, it's just not that great either. It starts out interesting enough. The acting is fine, the script is fine. But the ending is kind of lame, and it wont ever hold up against say........the original Alien. But still, it's a fun way to kill an evening.I recommend a rental.
