When a merchant submits their datafeed after signup, we categorize their products for them automatically. Merchants then have the option to increase bids at a category or product level to improve their position on the Smarter.com product listings. The higher they bid, the higher they rank, the higher they rank the more traffic they receive!
Merchants pay the bid amount on a cost-per-click basis only when the consumer clicks on their product listing and visits the corresponding product page on their site. The following rates represent the minimum cost-per-click to be listed in a given category at Smarter.com.
Effective November 1, 2009, we will apply a 20% cost per click increase to base CPC rates across all categories. This holiday adjustment is temporary and will end on January 1, 2010.
