Mutual Admiration Society
This collaboration between former Toad the Wet Sprocket front man Glen Phillips and Nickel Creek's Sean and Sara Watkins and Chris Thile was rehearsed and recorded in six days in 2000 and is the result of a true mutual admiration between the parties. Some of the eight originals bear a connection with Phillips's erstwhile band, especially a song like "Somewhere Out There" with its lilting rhythms and dreamily atmospheric chordal structure. What's most telling is the breadth that this new context allows him as a songwriter. The rootsy Americana, subtle voicings, and front-porch settings seem hundreds of miles from the more urban character of Toad. It's nice to see Nilsson's "Think About Your Troubles," one of a handful of covers, emerging as a contemporary standard in new acoustic circles (having also been released this year in a version by the Asylum Street Spankers). MAS's version of Jon Brion's "Trouble" shows the ease with which these players blend pop sensibilities with the resilience of tradition. --David Greenberger more

Sweet acoustic music!
I love this album! Although I've been a Nickel Creek fan for years, I've only recently become acquainted with Glen Phillips and his former (sometimes current) group, Toad the Wet Sprocket. Toad was in its heyday when I was busy raising kids, so my recent discovery of Toad and Glen has been...

Exemplary musicians, beautiful writing
This album was just the beginning of a beautiful collaboration between Glen Phillips, a songwriter/singer who is enormously talented and generally under appreciated, and the powerhouse musicians that make-up Nickel Creek. From the hilarious and spontaneous "Think About Your Troubles" to the...

Like A Gift
Toad The Wet Sprocket and Glen Phillips fan for ages, and somehow this album slipped under my radar! This was like a gift. It is Glen Phillips, yet a little different than usual Glen...and in a good way!!! Glen is playing with some brilliant musicians with MAS. Some of the songs are...

Why Don't I Like This More?
I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but 6 Days is not enough time to record an entire album, that's more than a track a day! Have you ever recorded music? Then you would know it takes days just to get one song sounding right. For all the love I have for Glen and Nickel Creek I was...

These other reviewers have gone mad
I have listened to this album several times on a portable discman with headphones, and also on my PC with it's cheap stock speakers, and neither time did I have any difficulty hearing the full range of sounds on each track. Since that appears to be the only complaint anyone else can muster, I can...

A True Musical Pleasure
This is an album best listened to on a pair of good headphones. I could not truly begin to listen to it in the car. The music was there but not the real feel. Once I was able to sit down and enjoy it on the headphones it all came together. An absolutely beautiful collaboration of some truly...

amazing
I'm surprised by all these negative reviews. The album has so much quiet beauty. It gets better with every listen.

Can you hear me now?
Can you hear me now? Yes glen, we can hear you. I feel so bad saying this but this cd was mixed like crap. As I listened to the first track in my car I audibly said to myself, "what the crap is this?" Glen's voice was so loud and obnoxious. Not that his voice was obnoxious but the fact that I...

Beautiful Music - a Must Have!
If you're a fan of Toad, Glen Phillips or Nickel Creek, this is a must have record. The songs are beautiful and moving,-- and tastefully recorded. The lead vocal seems like its mixed a little too loud, but if I'm not mistaken, they recorded this live over the course of a few days -- so it...

Don't fall for it.
I have been a Toad fan from day one. I own and can not stop listening to albums from Toad, Glen, Lapdog and Nickel Creek but this ablum sucks. It is so bad that I almost emailed Glen to ask for a refund. Windmills is a great example. MAS takes a great pop/rock song and destoys by trying to turn...
