Holztiger Wild Sow
A wild sow is a female pig that lives in the wild, not on a farm. It can be found in Southern Europe, Asia, and northern Africa. It has a course, bristly coat that is brownish, but turns gray with age. The upper canines form distinctive tusks which curve up and out of the mouth. The lower canines become very sharp from constantly rubbing against the upper canines. These animals adapt well to different environments and to low food supplies. Younger animals are often found in groups of 20-30, while older animals tend to be solitary. These animals are mainly nocturnal, hunting for food at night. While they are basically vegetarian, they can easily adapt to both a plant- and meat-eating diet. All Holztiger wooden animals, dinosaurs, and story characters are carved from maple, oak, birch, or beech wood to meet the demand of hard play. For extra safety, all sharp edges have been softened, and all figures are painted with non-toxic, water-based paint. To make the figure more resistant to perspiration and saliva, there is an additional non-toxic, satin-finish topcoat. more
