comprehensive, academic
I work for one of the largest banks in the US, and we use this book as a reference when we need to dig into the more arcane details of a project. If you do a lot of valuation work, this is a recommended text, but it is tome-like and a bit laborious to use, and I've found much of the advice it...

Book should be retitled valuiing a company purely on the basis of its past cash flow
This is a good intro to give the basics of valuation for "old economy" businesses. It determines the valuation of companies based almost exclusively on their cash flow over the previous few years (i.e., 3, 5 and 7 year periods) to the analysis. Unfortunately it ignores (completely) too many...

Valuation Review
The delivery took three times as long as Amazon promised and the book was damaged when I recieved it. Also, it was missing content (i.e. End of chapter questions.)

The CD mentioned in the summary is disappointingly not included with this book....
The book itself is excellent and exactly what I was hoping for.Amazon Customer services assured me that the CD was included and even sent me a second copy but there was no CD again..... I thought it was too much of a bargain to be true...and it was !! I will scrutinise the summary more...

Good read but brush up on your math

Useless
People buy this book to evaluate companies and make investment decisions, don't they? If that's most of the readers' goal, this book is pretty much useless.The calculation of net present value (NPV) of companies is purely a concept, which sounds great but impossible to accurately capture...
